Vocational Support
Getting back on track and returning to "normality" is paramount
to those affected by acquired brain injury. Returning to a previous
job is a very clear objective for many, whilst for others it may be
that they wish to engage in a new opportunity. We
understand these desires and offer support to try to make this
a reality.
Headway Oxfordshire's vocational worker is available to offer
you the support necessary to get you as close to your goal as
possible. At the point that you feel ready to be
returning to the workplace, either in a voluntary capacity or
paid, or to engage in education or training
opportunities, you can request our assistance.
You will be offered an initial meeting to identify your
wants and your needs. Then, in agreement with you, we
will create an individual enablement plan, that lays out a
clear pathway for you follow, with attainable milestones that
enable you to reach your end goal.
The Vocational Worker may support you with such things
as:
- Identifying your skills
- Writing a CV
- Writing covering letters for applications
- Searching and applying for paid employment or volunteering
posts
- Liaising with employers
- Continuing to offer support once you are back in the workplace
(both paid and voluntary)
- Providing links to local colleges and volunteer bureaus
- Offering basic computer training
- Signposting you to other services that may be of
assistance
Headway Oxfordshire will also shortly be offering a 'Back to
Work' training programme. For more information please contact
us.

Transport Service
Transport is one of the biggest challenges for our services
users. It is difficult to find, expensive to use and as from
April 2011, very unlikely to be funded as part of a care
package. Headway Oxfordshire recognise this problem and have now
invested in a Welfare Ambulance. We are now able to offer a
transport service to our service users, at a subsidised rate. We
hope that this will mean that those who would have previously been
unable to attend our services, will now be able to do so.
Headway Oxfordshire Ambulance
Our Ambulance is able to accomodate up to four wheelchairs at
any one time, or up to 9 passegers or a combination of both. If you
would like more information on our transport service, please
contact us on 01865 326263.
