Headway Oxfordshire’s Swimathon
Headway Oxfordshire are trying to take on the unique Swim the Channel Challenge – 22 miles of swimming – in total swimming the distance between DOVER AND CALAIS, to help raise vital funds for the charity.
Headway Oxfordshire is an independent, local charity supporting those affected by brain injury across the county. This highly specialised service provides a range of vital support; including an Activity and Rehabilitation Centre with physiotherapy gym suite, advice through our community support workers, and carer support. We also hope to raise money for our new sensory garden and rehabilitative games room, as well as maintain our services mentioned above. 2018 will see us enter our 30th year and we must continue to evolve and flourish, despite the cuts to services.
Our services are ever more in demand – there are around 4000 head injury admissions to Oxfordshire hospitals alone.
We hope you are up for the challenge – all in the name of charity – for a sponsored swim. We are trying to make a team of 22 swimmers who will complete 60 lengths each (1 mile). But you can volunteer to swim more! We are holding the challenge at the White Horse Leisure Centre on the 9th of July, starting at 11 am. They have kindly cordoned off 2 lanes for us to privately use for our swim.
